Plot Summary:Breakdance in the GDR. The jolting, robot-like dance gestures, which conquered the Western countries in the eighties, also enjoyed popularity in the former GDR within a small following. HERE WE COME introduces members of former breakdance groups and shows how the deprecated US subculture became a commercialized and paid-for entertainment.
The popular breakdance phenomenon in the DDR. Young people spent hours doing exercises, sewing Puma tracksuits by hand and making music. The movement initially drew protests from the police and security services, which were quick to spot the influence of the decadent capitalist culture of the West. Breakdance was outlawed once it became too big to control.
