Composer, photographer and filmmaker Phill Niblock's classic of experimental underground filmmaking with a sensational soundtrack by pianist Sun Ra and the members of his Solar Arkestra! Shot in the mid '60s, when the Arkestra was based in New York, this film was produced using a unique negative process and ultra-tight close-ups on the moving hands and mouths of the musicians. The result is a virtually abstract music film, mastered from a new print in all its incredibly sharp black & white glory.
第一部短片是1966年由“实验媒介”（Experimental Intermedia）的创始人美国艺术家菲尔·尼布洛克（Phill Niblock，1933-）拍摄的《魔幻太阳》。菲尔·尼布洛克是著名的极简主义先锋音乐家，同时也兼做实验电影，《魔幻太阳》是他的第一部作品，用胶片反色和大量的特写镜头拍摄Sun Ra & his Solar Arkestra演奏一首长达18分钟的曲子。整部影片给我的感觉就是两个字 -“迷幻”，无论是影像还是音乐都可以使人产生一种幻觉。Sun Ra就不用多说了，美国著名的自由爵士钢琴家，他和他的Solar Arkestra乐队在上世纪六十年代创作出了也许是史上最天才的先锋爵士乐，并影响了后来一大批新迷幻摇滚及太空摇滚乐队。
