Plot Summary:The butler of the writer Maxime de Borrego goes to the store of an old lady and tells that his boss probably knows the location of the Templars treasure, expecting to receive a reward. The old lady is actually the ruthless criminal The Man without a Face, the master of disguise that wears a red mask. He tortures and kills Maxime without getting any answer about the location of the treasure. Maxime's nephew, the sailor Paul de Borrego, returns from a trip and teams up with his girlfriend, her best friend, with Inspector Sorbier and his team trying to arrest the evil criminal. But The Man without a Face uses a sort of human zombies created his insane doctor and his gorgeous assistant that wears a mask and outfits similar to the Catwoman to lure the police and achieve his intent.
一个戴红色面具的贼,和他的助手一起想找到一笔在巴黎的圣殿骑士的财宝...... 如果你习惯了弗朗叙在《没有面孔的眼睛》以及《犹德士》中呈现的风格，这部《红夜》也许会吓你一跳。前者是优雅的黑白影像，而《红夜》中则变成了70 年代俗丽夸张的色彩；前者执着于古典的叙事，结构简单故事线索单一，而后者却复杂混乱；前者拥有闭合而完满的结尾（《犹德士》的结局处甚至让魔术师和银行家的女儿在沙滩上幸福的散步，简直太过童话），后者却让邪恶之人得以逃遁，以开放的方式结束；最重要的是，弗朗叙在《红夜》中放弃了用超现实的方式来营造恐怖，取而代之以更现代性的手法，并且电影中的科幻味道更加浓厚，弗朗叙处理时手法也趋于写实。
