Plot Summary:Matej Hurka, an eighteen-year-old bricklayer's apprentice and volunteer fireman who lives with his grandmother in a picturesque village, loves nature and would like to be a forester. In addition, however, he experiences his first love for the pretty Barca Cupalová, who has returned to her parents after a long stay in a distant county town. Matej is too shy, however, and before he can get his groove on at the dance that evening, Barca is taken away from him by the sovereign dude Evzen. And while his grandmother is wondering how to announce to her grandson, whom she is raising alone after his mother's death, that she is going to marry the energetic pensioner Vokurka, Matej is struggling with his own love problems and other rather delicate difficulties. A meeting of the cooperative's board of directors addresses his transgression against morality when he took an evening swim in a forest pond and \"clashed\" with the girls, who were also bathing, naked of course.
