Walter Lassally, an Englishman of German descent, was one of the leading cinematographers in the world. In the mid-50s he came to Greece and embarked on a collaboration with Michalis Kakogiannis, which yielded six films. Among them, is the illustrious “Zorba the Greek”, for which Lassally was awarded an Oscar for Best Cinematography.
