国际大都会上海，夜幕降临，华灯初上。城市的一角，男女老少觥筹交错，笑语欢歌。家庭晚宴结束，众人正准备离开的时候，餐厅所在的整条街突然停电。秀秀（江一燕 饰）留下来等着结账，丈夫则和其他人先行离开。突然安静下来的餐厅，只剩下秀秀和邻桌一名来自英国的男人（Tee Yoo 饰）。男人主动搭讪，称赞秀秀的美丽及其儿子的可爱，或许借着夜的暧昧，秀秀向这个陌生人说出了一个连家人都不知道的秘密。少顷，光明再现，二人起身离开。英国人似乎有些不解，这个初次见面的女孩为何会告诉他这样一个秘密。若有所思的秀秀暂停离开的脚步，约上对方一起去喝咖啡，并且讲述起那年非典流行时候发生的一段梦幻恋情……
