Plot Summary:Just after midnight on March 10, 1945, the U.S. launched an air attack on eastern Tokyo, which left more than 100,000 people dead and destroyed a quarter of the city. Unlike their loved ones, Hiroshi Hoshino, Michiko Kiyooka and Minoru Tsukiyama emerged from the bombings alive. Now in their twilight years, they wish for nothing more than recognition and reparations for those who, like them, had been indelibly harmed by the war-but the Japanese government and even their fellow citizens seem reluctant to acknowledge the past.
1945年3月10日午前0時過ぎ、アメリカ軍の爆撃機が東京を襲撃し、木造家屋や紙材が密集していた街に火の粉を浴びせた。この空襲は10万人以上の死者を出し、東京の4分の1を焼失させることになる。3人の生存者の言葉を本作で伝えたオーストラリア人映画監督エイドリアン・フランシスは「歴史上最も破壊的な空襲の記憶が忘れ去られようとしていることが不思議に思えました。この街には、その時何が起こったのかという痕跡がほとんどなかったので、その理由を知りたいと思いました」とコメントしている。
