When their fertility treatments fail, Judith and Niclas hire a surrogate mother in Ukraine. Horrified when war breaks out there, they offer the surrogate mother the chance to live with them in Munich. Her refuge in Germany is short-lived, however, as the agency insists on compliance with the contract. The baby has to be born and claimed in Ukraine.
