Plot Summary:Candice, a registered nurse working in a nursing home, is ensnared in the grip of opium addiction, exploiting her workplace privileges to feed her habit and dodging contact from her estranged ex-addict mother. However, a DUI conviction compels Candace to begin attending 12-step meetings, despite continuing to use drugs. At work, Candice finds moments of comfort in her interaction with a dementia patient who consistently confuses her with her own estranged daughter. As the two build some semblance of a mother-daughter relationship, Candice opens up and begins to connect dots around her resentment towards her own mother's drug use and neglect. Eventually, a near-fatal overdose forces Candice to confront the reality of her addiction and take steps to repair familial relationships, while a revelation from her patient leads to a terrible discovery.
