Plot Summary:Master swordsman Kojiro Sasaki is not content with the knowledge of his own power and constantly seeks to impress it upon others. Another great samurai swordsman, Musashi Miyamoto, has great respect for Sasaki's skills, but seeks to find spirituality and redemption for past sins rather than glory. Sasaki challenges Miyamoto, who tries to avoid conflict, but eventually the two must meet. They do so on Ganryu Island.
安芸の宮島に渡った佐々木小次郎は、そこで宿敵となる宮本武蔵と出会った。九州に道場を開いた小次郎は、家老の有吉内膳に城の指南役として推薦されるが、同じく家老の長岡佐渡は宮本武蔵を推薦。二人は試合をすることになるのだった。
