In an all-musical stage variety show, Dizzie Gillespie and his musical friends have a ball. Includes the racist cartoons “Hittin’ the Trail for Hallelujah Land” (1931) and “Uncle Tom and Little Eva” (1932), presented as historical examples of stereotypes that were once acceptable entertainment by both white and black audiences.
