Plot Summary:Near the remains of an iron factory, an old painter faces the challenges of creation, as his longtime muse has not appeared in some time. A young girl lends her curiosity to discover what it is that holds the old painter back. Her mother tells her a bedtime story to which brings understanding of the relationship between the abandoned factory and the lonely artist nearby.
錆びたはがねの氾濫する工場地帯。うなりを上げ続ける工場群の前で、一人の《老画家》が真っ白なキャンバスを立て掛け、じっと何かを待っていた。壊れた玩具を埋葬しようとする《少女》との出会い。こと切れて久しい廃工場の持つ記憶が、一遍の絵本の物語によって呼び覚まされる。やがて訪れる弔いの時・・・。中嶋莞爾初の長編作品。役割を終え、忘れられて行く物たちと人間との新たな関わりを詩的に表現しつつ、科学文明の本質に迫ろうとする、《はがね》へのレクイエム。
