Plot Summary:The preacher's son, Charles Raymond, is caught in a night window-breaker raid conducted by a gang of boys. Charles is taken before the judge next morning. He tells the judge that his father, the minister, uses the rod freely when he has displeased him. The minister promises to give his son another good beating but the judge directs that his son be sent to the country to visit relatives. Raymond soon makes the acquaintance of the boys of his neighborhood and astonishes them when he recounts what a fighter and racer his father, the minister, is. The townsmen needs the services of a new minister and upon Charles' account of his father's reputation, his father is engaged to fill the place. Charles tells his father about the reputation he has given him, and his father, like the good sport that he is, acts the part. He meets every demand of the church committee. Charles has done his \"bit.\"
