1950年の「暗黒街」に始まる東宝の“暗黒街“ものの一編。アクション映画で名高い岡本喜八監督が大薮春彦の『火制地帯』を翻案、スピーディーで歯切れの良い独特の語り口で、地方暴力団の抗争を描いている。主演の加山雄三をはじめ、岡本組の俳優たちがみな好演。After a long stint working in Alaska, Jiro returns to his hometown. He soon learns that his father, the town's mayor, was murdered and, in his absence, the yakuza gangs have seized control of the town. Jiro quickly becomes dangerously obsessed with finding his father's killer.
