女儿特丽莎（佐伊·索尔达娜 Zoe Saldana 饰）同男友西蒙（艾什顿·库彻 Ashton Kutcher 饰）即将订婚的消息让一贯掌控着家里生杀大权的珀西（伯尼·麦克 Bernie Mac 饰）彻底的懵了，因为他甚至连这个叫做西蒙的准女婿长啥模样都不知道，而当西蒙站在了珀西面前时，珀西简直不敢相信女儿竟然要嫁给到这个弱鸡一样的白小子。 面对貌似完美的准女婿，珀西想方设法的想要找到西蒙的漏洞，可无论是职业还是经济状况，西蒙显然都无懈可击。并没有就此善罢甘休的珀西对西蒙发起了正面进攻，两人甚至开始比试起了车技。面对如狼似虎的岳父，西蒙努力应对，但很快他便发现，事情似乎被他给搞砸了。Percy and Marilyn are renewing their vows for their anniversary, and their daughter Theresa brings her boyfriend Simon for them to meet. Unbeknownst to her parents, the kids plan to announce their engagement during the weekend. The Jones family is Black; Theresa neglects to tell them Simon is White. Race complicates Percy's general mistrust of any boyfriend, so he instigates an investigation of Simon, discovering he's recently lost his job and hasn't told Theresa. Mistrust rears its ugly head, and in the process of Theresa and Simon's argument, Marilyn and Percy fall out. What can the men do to cross the divide between each other and between men and women? Will anyone be exchanging vows?
