在离开了弗罗里达之后，贝丝（丽贝卡·豪尔 Rebecca Hall 饰）来到了诸多淘金者心目中的圣地拉斯维加斯，在那里，她找到了一份酒吧女招待的工作。虽然生活和设想中的大相径庭，但贝丝并没有太多的精力去思考和抱怨，每一天，能够吃饱，有地方住就已经是最大的奢侈了。 赌徒丁克（布鲁斯·威利斯 Bruce Willis 饰）正是看准了贝丝这种浑浑噩噩的生活状态，才会找到她希望她成为自己的搭档的，没想到，这个选择却为他带来了千载难逢的好运气。原来，贝丝对数字和概率十分敏感，在她和丁克天衣无缝的配合下，两人在赌场中占尽了风头，却也惹恼了丁克那小心眼的老婆图丽普（凯瑟琳·泽塔-琼斯 Catherine Zeta-Jones 饰）。Beth, who lap dances to make ends meet, leaves Florida for Las Vegas hoping to be a cocktail waitress. She meets two women who introduce her to Dink, a gambler with a system. He hires her - she's good with numbers - and she promptly falls for him, even though he's married to a woman who seems to do nothing but spend his money. Beth tries to entice Dink whose wife, Tulip, tells him to choose; he does and promptly goes on a losing streak. The repercussions of his choice play out with a heavy gambler who has a parole officer, a cheesy bookmaker in Curaçao, Beth's desire to keep a friend out of prison, and help from an unlikely source.
