老伯爵在国会演说后，回到家里穿上怪异的服饰悬梁死去。出乎意料的是他的遗嘱里没有给妻子和兄弟任何财产，却给了老仆人德加三万英磅，其余的给了他有疯病的儿子积。于是他的亲友为了得到积的财产监管权，开始勾心斗角。积的疯病医好后，他一心想在上议院中出人头地，但他表面上一幅绅士形象，实际上却变成了一个恶毒的杀人狂。A member of the House of Lords dies in a shockingly silly way, leaving his estate to his son. Unfortunately, his son is insane: he thinks he is Jesus Christ. The other somewhat-more respectable members of their family plot to steal the estate from him. Murder and mayhem ensues.
